There is a Provincial Courthouse in Breton, a circuit court location.

Emergency Services
Services available through the Breton RCMP include Criminal records check, Police certificate, Vulnerable sector check, Report a crime, General information, and Non emergency complaints.Breton is chosen by many as a safe, peaceful community to raise children, and with all the recreational amenities in the area, has become a preferred home for seniors and retirees.

Breton is a 9-1-1 Community. For police, fire, or ambulance service, just dial 9-1-1 for emergency service. The Alberta Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) leads the coordination, collaboration and co-operation of all organizations involved in the prevention, preparedness and response to disasters and emergencies.

Breton contracts fire services from Brazeau County. A fire station is located in the Village and is manned by volunteer firefighters and a full-time Fire Chief. Station 2 of the Drayton Valley/Brazeau County Fire Services is currently home to 18 members including the District Fire Chief and houses five fire apparatus.

Breton is a 911 community.Breton is served by a local detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). It is comprised of five members and is supervised by the S/Sgt out of Thorsby. This detachment is responsible for 1,100 square miles including Alder Flats, Alsike, Breton, Buck Creek, Buck Lake, Carnwood, Lindale, Pendryl, Winfield and Yeoford. It enforces Federal, Provincial, and Municipal statutes. The office is open Monday to Friday from 8 am - 4 pm.

The Province of Alberta has a circuit courthouse in Breton. Judges travel to Breton to hear cases.

The Leduc and Area Victim Services Unit provides immediate crisis intervention to people who are victims of crime, trauma or tragedy within the Breton and Thorsby RCMP Detachment areas. Volunteer advocates provide assistance and referral services.

Associated Ambulance Services provides 24 hour a day ambulance service in the Breton area. Assistance is readily available when required with an ambulance stationed in the Breton Medical Centre and ambulance attendants living within the Village.
