These organizations received grants last year: Breton Elementary School Breton High School Library Breton Playschool Brighter Futures Cardium Victim Services Family School Liaison Health in Action Lindale Playschool Senior Wellness Conference	Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is a Municipal/Provincial cost shared program. Through FCSS, many services, activities and programs are made available. These services are provided with the intention of promoting and enhancing family and community life. Volunteerism and prevention are emphasized, and FCSS helps the community help itself. Services and programs are varied, depending on the need. Breton and Area FCSS provides services to residents living in the Village of Breton or the eastern portion of Brazeau County (east of the North Saskatchewan River). Click here to check out our Summer Activity Guide 2010. Present services offered with the support of FCSS include: INFORMATION AND REFERRALS This is an important component of FCSS. Anyone who needs information, referrals or support on social, community or personal issues, may contact the FCSS office. Although counseling is not available through our local office, the coordinator can provide information and assistance on obtaining counseling. Confidentiality is protected. SENIORS PROGRAMS Meals on Wheels Home Support Services Seniors Week Luncheon Seniors Grass Cutting and Snow Removal Program Seniors Exercises and Wellness Program FAMILY PROGRAMS Family Day Halloween Hoopla Women's Conference Income Tax Program YOUTH PROGRAMS Babysitters Course Hire A Student LIFE Camp Pitch-In Cooking for Kids So You Want To Be A Hilton COMMUNITY PROGRAMS Community Registration and Information Night Vitalize Volunteer Week BBQ Christmas Tree of Remembrance Christmas Volunteer Tea and Open House Powerhouse Classes COORDINATION AND PLANNING In 2006 Breton FCSS coordinated many other programs in our community including: Breton Canada Day Activities - we assisted in bringing groups together to plan July 1st activities, we also printed the brochures promoting all of the different events happening that day. Tools for Schools - We run the Tools for Schools campaign in August to assist lower income families by supplying school supplies to the schools. Christmas Letter Writing Campaign Food Bank Drives - Once a year Breton FCSS sends out letters to local organizations encouraging them to collect food throughout the year for the local food bank by either canvassing the area or by collecting food at one of their functions. Rural Farm Safety Camp - Breton FCSS partnered with Warbug C.A.R.E, UFA and local businesses to offer this one day family safety camp. Seniors Wellness Conference - local residents traveled to this one day conference on senior's issues and wellness. Breton Interagency Meetings - are coordinated by Breton FCSS every 6 weeks to share information with local service agencies.
